Meeting
Reminder
Our first Tour of Houses was fabulous! A huge
thanks to Margie & Joe Arnett who graciously hosted our first Tour.
Their new home is beautiful. It was completed about 2 months ago by
Stonewood Construction, although they feel like they are just finally
settling in. They have done a beautiful job of decorating and I can't stop
talking about their stunning piano! During our social, they even had a
slideshow running on their new plasma TV of the fire and the construction
process. Margie and Joe have been keeping a website of their rebuild
process. It can be found at http://www.jamlife.com/os.htm.
We were also able to tour two other homes on
Echo Drive. Evan Reidhammer and Heather Phelps also let us tour their
home. Heather lives next door to the Arnett's and is currently under
construction. Her house is framed and she is just picking out
fixtures and finishes so she is well on her way! Evan lives down
the street and has also completed his home. He is a woodworker so he had
some fabulous wood flooring and cabinetry!
Of course, there was great food and company as
well! The location of our next Tour will be announced shortly! I
look forward to seeing everyone again!

Personal Property Inventory
Tips
---
The author of the "Personal Property Inventory
Guide" (AKA the yellow book) is working with some people to update and republish
the book to help future survivors. You might remember it as the book with
all of the inventory lists to help jog your memory while creating your
inventory.
Whether or not you've seen the book, they'd like to
include some tips for future survivors on creating the inventory. Please
reply and let me know how you created your list. Any little thing could
help future survivors!

soaring
REPORT: The U.S. Forest Service puts the figure at $1.2
billion, but the total is far from final.

Riverside Press-Enterprise
The cost of the Old, Grand Prix and Padua fires of 2003 has topped $1.2
billion -- and the price tag is still rising, a U.S. Forest Service report has
concluded.
The study, released Monday by the Forest Service's Pacific Southwest
Research Station in Riverside, is the first attempt to count the structural and
environmental losses, as well as secondary costs, after the historic wildfires.

Tavern fire unites community

CEDAR GLEN - A recent blaze may have gutted The Chef's Inn and Tavern, but
it has not extinguished the festive spirit of the bar and its patrons.
Owner Randall Holloman and a group of friends sat outside the historic
building Thursday munching on Ruffles, sipping beer and monitoring the
demolition crew's progress. A steady stream of regular patrons stopped by to
offer condolences and tip a bottle.

DESCANSO – The construction site in East County is a long way from the
august chambers of the U.S. Supreme Court, but Bill Sullivan was glad to be
there yesterday.
Sullivan was one of 12 members of the Del Mar law firm of Paul, Hastings,
Janofsky & Walker who volunteered their time to Habitat for Humanity to help
rebuild a Descanso house destroyed in the October 2003 county wildfires.
