Meeting Reminder
Well, we've had our last official meeting, but that
doesn't mean we won't see you again! We will be getting together for a
social on the 4th Sunday of each month until the 2 year anniversary in October
of 2005.
This month on July 24 we will be meeting at Margie
& Joe Arnett's located at 1681 Echo Drive. This will be a potluck
event so please bring something to share! If there is anyone else located
within a block or so of this location, we would also love to visit
your house. Please let me know in advance!

You are not alone
---
Do you see people building all around you and feel
like you're all alone? Well, don't despair, you are not alone! Many
San Diego fire survivors have joined a Yahoo! group called the Cedar Fire
Rebuilding Resource Group (or the CFRRG). People still post messages about their personal property list or
"finally" demolishing their foundation. Feel free to browse the group and
also join in the conversation!
People have posted pictures of their rebuild
progress, lists of companies offering discounts, and downloadable
handouts. There is even a group inventory database where you can look at
to refresh your memory or you can even add to it!

Morongo Valley Survivors
---
I was able to get a hold of a list of the 7 fire
survivors from last months Morongo Valley fires. Using the phone book, I
was able to get valid phone numbers for 3 of the survivors. One said he
only lost a small structure which had no personal items and was not insured so
he didn't think he needed any assistance. I have sent information to the
other 6 and talked to two of them. If I can get in touch with the other
survivors, at some point it might be nice to visit them.
If you are interested in joining me on such a
visit, please let me know! At this point I am still trying to get a hold
of people so I don't have a date or location, but I'm just trying to plan
ahead!

1. Beef up your home
insurance
If you haven't checked your homeowner's policy in a
while, you may be in for some nasty surprises.

By Jeffrey Rothfeder, This Old House
NEW YORK (This Old
House) - As many as three-quarters of U.S. homeowners are carrying insurance
policies that don't cover replacement cost if a fire or storm levels their
house, according to a study released in 2002 by Wisconsin construction-data firm
Marshall & Swift/Boeckh.
To make matters worse, those policies are
undervalued by more than 35 percent in many cases.

Special district best for Cedar

Type of work that's needed will require an infusion
of funds.
Burned out in the Old Fire a year and a half ago,
Cedar Glen has been slow to rebuild. An aging water system and impassable roads
have dragged out the process.
He is a property insurance lawyer, but what I found
interesting was the articles and book recommendations. I found most
of the books used on Amazon (one for as little as $1.99).
