Information on CLUE
---
What is the CLUE Database? CLUE is something like
the credit reporting agencies for insurance claims. For more information
on CLUE, visit Privacy
Rights Clearinghouse. The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse
(www.privacyrights.org ) is an excellent resource for all consumers. The
PRC has extensive information on CLUE and what it means to consumers, owners,
the real estate and insurance industry.

read the PRC fact sheet on CLUE, go to: http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs26-CLUE

about CLUE visit the Insurance Journal's website for:

Clarifications on GAS Company Service
Reinstatement
---
I am
resending the instructions from the Gas Company on how to reinstate
service. Below the instructions are questions (in red) I had about
the process. Following the questions are answers (in black) I received
from Jeffrey M. Graden, District Operations Manager, San Bernardino/Rim
Forest/Beaumont, 909-335-7922.
- Verify with your builder that the Gas Houseline is
installed on the same side of the house as it was previously. If line is
installed in a different location, the homeowner will incur a cost.
- Call 1-800-427-2200 and identify yourself as a
Firestorm Victim. Explain to Customer Service Representative that you
need to schedule a Filed Planner visit to your location for service
re-instatement.
- Field Planner will visit location within
5-7 working days.
- Service re-instatement order will be issued by
Field Planner and competed by Gas Co. personnel or qualified pipeline
contractor within 4-weeks of field visit.*
- Upon approval of Houseline Plumbing by local
Bu9ilding Department, call 1-800-427-2200. Identify yourself as a
Firestorm Victim and explain to Customer Service Representative that you need
to apply for Meter Set/Turn On Application.
- Order will be issued for Field Service
Representative to set meter and turn on gas within 2 working
days.
- At what point should
the first call be made? Approximately six weeks
before construction is to be completed
- If the 4 week
timeframe is not applicable if service re-instatement is different, what is
the applicable timeframe (i.e. shorter like 2 days or longer, like 8
weeks)? What this
means is if the meter is going to be located in a different location then the
original house (example, moved from the left side to the right side) the
customer will have to pay for the reinstatement and the process will take 6-8
weeks.

AIA: Recent Security Breaches Increase Spotlight on Protection of
Consumer Information for Insurers
March 11, 2005
Recent security breaches at
companies that collect, store and sell personal data - such as
ChoicePoint, LexisNexis and Bank of America -
individually and collectively cast a spotlight on privacy and security issues
with implications for the insurance industry at both the state and federal
levels, according to the American Insurance Association (AIA).

Legislators Try to Get a CLUE about Loss Reports
Among the many topics addressed by the
property/casualty insurance committee of the National Conference of Insurance
Legislators (NCOIL) at its Feb. 26–29 meeting in San Antonio was the
comprehensive loss underwriting exchange (CLUE) and its use in underwriting
homeowners insurance.
