Subject: OFRG weekly update

Just a reminder that we are not meeting this week, but we will be meeting on Sunday Feb 13, 2005 at 2:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church.  We will be having Frank Williams from the BIA (www.biasc.com) talking about hiring and working with contractors.

I mailed out the February newsletter this past weekend.  Okay, okay, I misused the word "Calvary"... it should've been "cavalry".  Sorry in advance!

Last week I asked for contractor recommendations and I have posted the comments to our website www.oldfirerecoverygroup.comClick on "Resources" then on "Cleanup and Rebuilding".  Scroll down to the "Rebuilding" section for updates as I get them.  If you want to mention the great job your contractor did, please let me know.  Let's just keep it to the positive recommendations.  Unfortunately there are legal ramifications of recommending against certain people/businesses.

Currently I have the following listed on our site.

Rachel Hernandez:

"I worked with a [contracting] company called Pyrotech from Los Angeles. Even though the office is in another county, these guys got my house up in four months! And were easy to work with. The owners to contact would be Bob Harber or Robert Leung @323 888-6995."

Margie Arnett, Echo Dr (866) 565-0330:

"We really like Stonewood Construction. They are out of Grand Terrace. The owners names are Gary & Corrine Robinson at 909-783-0174. The home is not completed yet, but we have experienced high quality workmanship & attention to details." Home is not yet complete.  See the Arnett's website for pictures and updates.

Dave & Georgia Rudolph, Bonnie Dr. 909-886-1320:

The used Phillips Construction (lic # 241988 contact John 951-317-3637).  Did the work very quickly and were easy to work with.  Moved in May 2004.

Evan Reidheimer, Echo Dr, 909-882-1986:

Evan also used Phillips Construction (lic # 241988 contact John 951-317-3637). Said they were "awesome" and "incredible".  Moved in late Aug 2004.

Bill McKinney, Toluca Dr

"My contractors name is EVR-GARD CONSTRUCTION. Check them out on line. They draw up the plans you want, submit and  follow through,  pick them up etc. They handle everything to turn key. I have a copy of my plans too. So far, everything was promised has been done, but they will not get the last money until I am satisfied. FYI, they started my house in June '04."  Bill told me he is expecting to move in sometime this month.
