Don't forget about this Saturday's "Picnic
at the Park" commemorating the one year anniversary of the Old
Fire. It is at Wildwood Park at 40th and Waterman starting at
11AM. Hotdogs bar-b-q-ed by the firefighters and soda and entertainment
provided by the city. Hopefully it will stop raining by then!!! Call
the Mayor's office for more details 909-384-5133.
The Insurance Commissioner as well as other
officials (such as State Assemblyman Longville) will be in
attendance.
Speaking of Assemblyman Longville... they will be
giving an award to George and Pat Kehrer of CARe on that
day. The Mayor has said there will be no formal presentation, but
I hope to be able to make as big a deal as possible about it.
CARe has brought hundreds of thousands of dollars
back into the San Bernardino Valley and it's nice to know they are being
acknowledged!

The mayor's office has canceled the press
conference that was scheduled for Monday, October 25th. The picnic
on Saturday October 23, however, is still on. I hope to see everyone
there!!!
In lieu of the mayor's press conference, the
Insurance Commissioner will be doing a press conference on Monday
October 25 in the Del Rosa Area. I'm not sure they've picked a
spot yet so when I've heard where and when it will take place I will let you
know!

Have you received notice of the
CDI Mediation Program? Look here for
details on the program
---
Have you filed a law suit in the San Bernardino
area? Approximately 10% of all 2003 fire survivors filed suit as
compared with an average of only 1% of the population.
Keep track of your San Bernardino County
filed Lawsuit here:

Tomorrow the California Department of Insurance
will be holding hearings regarding the underinsurance issue. State Farm,
Allstate and Farmers have all been subpoenaed as well as AAA. I am
planning on attending so and I assume it will be interesting so stay tuned for
an update!

In response to rising difficulty consumers now face in securing homeowners
insurance following last year's firestorms, California Insurance Commissioner
John Garamendi announced Oct. 13 that he has eased eligibility requirements for
the state's FAIR Plan, the so-called homeowners insurer of last resort.
