About our Fire

The last weeks of October of 2003 is when our lives changed.  There were actually several different fires happeneing all at once.  At some point some of the fires merged and it's hard to tell which things happened due to which fires but as far as we can tell here are the overall statistics.

Size: 749,319 acres
Homes: 3,577 destroyed
Deaths: 22
Injuries: 174
Suppression Cost: $23,282,000 and counting
Evacuees: 95,600
No Power: 58,369
Cost: $2 billion and counting
Personnel: 12,735 firefighters

There were three major areas of destruction.  Here is a breakdown by major area.

Inland Empire
