Subject: Weekly update from OFRG
Thursday,
October 7 at 7:00PM we are hosting a Post Fire Debris
Flow Information meeting. It will be at the First Congregational
Church at 3041 Sierra Way. Confirmed
speakers/attendees include: Lynn
Merrill - City Public Works; Ted Golondzinier -
County Flood Control; Susan Lien and Wendy McCammack
- City Councilpersons; Doug Hamilton - Debris Flow Engineer; Peggi
Hazlett from the mayor's office and the city fire marshal Doug Dupree
and probably others including possibly state representatives.
Please plan on attending!!!! This information is very important since
it takes 4-5 years for the debris flow threat to diminish after a fire
and it can be problematic at best to get your insurance company to clean up
an empty lot after a flood so prevention is the key!
This is also the only time we have been able to get county officials to our
meetings so if you have any questions for county officials, now is the
time!!!
Please also find attached an update from the County
Flood Control that I received late last week.

The Mayor's office is interested in
compiling stories of anyone connected to the fire in any way, everyone from
total losses, to smoke damage, to no damage, to firemen and police. If
you'd like to be involved in this, please contact Charlotte Crandall (captaincrandall@yahoo.com) or
909-883-7140 for submission information.
---
Van Garrison (of Shernoff Bidart) has agreed to
meet with fire victims on a one-on-one basis this coming Friday at her office in
Claremont. If you are interested in an appointment, please call her office
at (909) 621-4935 to setup the appointments.
This is the very last chance you have to sign up
with these top tier "bad-faith" attorneys to sue your insurance companies before
the one year statute of limitations kicks in later this month.

The Mayor's office is working on a one year
anniversary celebration on Saturday Oct 23. Details to
follow.

San Bernardino County Amendment to Permit
Fee Waiver Procedure
If you've heard that the city has waived
rebuilding permit fees for fire victims, but you live in the county and have
heard that they are only waiving fees for people who are uninsured, then take
heart. On October 5, 2004 Keith Lee, Associate Administrative Officer,
released recommendations to change that waiver to include underinsured
survivors.
Contact the county for more details, but
definitely make sure to ask about it!

Laurie Delgado from Escrow Funding Services says
she is very sorry she didn't show up at our last scheduled meeting but she was
ill and wasn't able to attend. She will come to our October 17 meeting so
we look forward to seeing her then on the topic "working with
contractors"!
