Subject: Issues

On August 15 (less than two weeks) we have invited government officials to visit or meeting and tell us what they have been doing and we would like to present them a list of our concerns.  To make sure we are truely a voice of the survivors, please reply with what YOU are concerned about and/or answer the following questions.

These questions are for anyone affected by the fires, not just people who have lost their home.  Thank you in advance for your help.

1.       Please tell us; what is your #1 concern with regards to recovering from the wildfire?

2.       Have you used any government organizations to aid in your recovery? If so, which one(s) and how did they help you?

3.       Have you used any faith-based or other organizations to aid in your recovery? If so, which one(s) and how did they help you?

4.       Do you feel like you have enough money to rebuild your residence? If not, how do you plan on covering the gap?

5.       If you were insured, do you feel fairly treated by your insurance company?  If you ran into any major snafus how did you handle them?

6.       Have you started the permit process?  If so, are you within the city limits or are you in the county’s jurisdiction?  Has the permitting process gone smoothly?  If you have completed the permit process, how long did it take?

7.       Have you hired a contractor?  Did you determine if they were licensed?  If so, what resource did you use?

8.       If you have started rebuilding, how far along are you?  Do you feel fairly treated by your contractor? If you ran into any major snafus how did you handle them?

9.       Have you noticed an increased in law-enforcement patrols in your neighborhood?

10.   Have you been directly effected by an increase in crimes directed at fire survivors (i.e. robbery etc)?
